About Us

WellNecessities began in March 1993, when the President, Lea Desmarteau recognized the need for sleep testing in infants and children in the Ark-La-Tex region. At the request of her current employer, she agreed to meet the much needed neonate sleep diagnostic services with the incorporation of WellNecessities.

While maintaining her existing position as general manager she quickly grew her own company, eventually contracting all sleep services for her existing employer. Not only did the business require her full-time attention, but
Lea also recognized the need to hire and train additional staff. WellNecessities has continually grown and now contracts with many area hospitals to perform sleep studies at their facilities. Due to business expansion, WellNecessities opened a new location at 2300 Fairfield Avenue, Shreveport, in June 1999.

This location was a wonderfully restored Bed & Breakfast Inn, which had five beautiful bedrooms where sleep studies could be completed. In October 2001,
WellNecessities’ expansion moved into the Texas market with contracts in both Austin and Dallas, Texas. With the Company’s continued expansion, in January 2004 the Company relocated to a new facility at 8835 Line Avenue, Suite 500. The new facility is complimented with modern accents and a sales showroom floor that is state-ofthe- art, having all the essentials of sleep and relaxation products. The new facility also boasts a four-bed sleep lab, with room to grow. On November 2, 2005, in compliance with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization's national standards for healthcare quality and safety, WellNecessities, specializing in sleep diagnostic testing, home medical equipment rental/sales and Compounding pharmacy has earned the Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval(TM) in all three specialty areas.
